Ocala Music - The Flamingos

The Flamingos

Saturday, September 13, 2008
Doors Open: 6pm - Show Begins: 7pm

In 1954, Terry Johnson (at age 16) recorded with a Baltimore group called The Whispers (not The Whispers of the 1960's) on Gotham Records in Philadelphia. He wrote, arranged and sang lead on "Fool Heart" and co-wrote, arranged and sang lead on "Are You Sorry," released in 1955.

He brought that sound and talent to The Flamingos in 1956 with his first arrangement of music and vocals on "The Ladder of Love." He continued with writing and arranging, "Lovers Never Say Goodbye," "Mio Amore," "At The Prom," "Heavenly Angel," "You, Me and the Sea," his unforgettably beautiful production and arrangement of "I Only Have Eyes For You" and others. Terry arranged the music, vocals and sang tenor on all of the songs on the albums "Flamingo Serenade," "Requestfully Yours" and "Flamingo Favorites." Terry sang on the duets such as "Lovers Never Say Goodbye," "Love Walked In," "Time Was" and "But Not For Me." He also sang the lead on some of their album cuts such as "I'm In The Mood For Love," "When I Fall In Love" and "Beside You." (Full Bio)

Ocala Music - Mickey Finn Show

Mickey Finn Show

Saturday, September 27, 2008
Doors Open: 6pm - Show Begins: 7pm

IMickey Finn is one of those rare talents who combines all the ingredients of piano virtuosity, creative showmanship and comedy. He stands amazingly tall as a rinky-tink pianist, band leader, TV producer and composer. The unsurpassed success of his own nightclub in San Diego (3 million people through the doors) led to an NBC TV series. Superlative performances continue at Disney World's Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, performing arts theaters, on 5-Star Cruise ships and on more than 50 national TV specials.

Banjoist extraordinaire, Cathy Reilly caught Finn's eye while winning the talent portion of the Miss America Pageant. As Miss Delaware, she was responsible for 100 million people being mesmerized by her banjoistics as one of the top ten finalists. After a Far East tour she was named "USO Entertainer of the Year." Cathy has performed all over the US convention headliner, casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, teamed with Finn at Disney, cruise lines and on national TV. She was the first woman inducted into the National Banjo Hall of Fame.

Ocala Music - Billy Joe Royal

Billy Joe Royal

Saturday, October 11, 2008
Doors Open: 6pm - Show Begins: 7pm

After success in both the country and pop fields andhits that stretch from the 60’s to the 90’s, it’s obvious that Billy Joe Royal is doing something right. More than 25 years since “Down In The Boondocks” put Royal on the map, his R&B tinged tenor is still thrilling radio listeners and concert-goers; his tours still display the timelessness of high powered showmanship and his staying power remains a testimony to what happens when hard work and resilience are combined with natural talent. "Driving Miss Daisy"
Dinner Show

Thursday, October 23, through Sunday, October 26, 2008
Doors Open: 5pm • Dinner Begins: 6pm

Driving Miss Daisy is a Pulitzer Prize-winning drama with a story that spans a period of twenty-five years, 1948 to 1973. The story follows Daisy Werthan, a 72-year-old, southern Jewish widow, who has just crashed her brand-new car while backing it out of the garage. Her son hires her a driver Hoke Coleburn, a 60-year-old, uneducated African American man. At first, Daisy wants nothing to do with Hoke, but he slowly wins her over with his native good graces.  Over the years the pair shares life’s ups and downs and slowly builds a relationship that transcends their differences.

Ocala Music - Joey Dee & The Starliners

Joey Dee & The Starliters

Saturday, November 8, 2008
Doors Open: 6pm - Show Begins: 7pm

Joey Dee is now flanked by two outstanding performers. David Brigati, original Starliters (who also sang on The Rascal's recordings), stands on one side. On the other side of Joey stands Bobby Valli, younger brother of Frankie Valli. The vocals that emanate from the stage send chills and thrills to the audience. Joey is as exciting as ever and Dave and Bobby only enhance that excitement with their vocal leads and harmonies. Dave sings The Rascal's songs eerily like the group his brother Eddie starred in. Bobby sings his brother's songs with a panache that is reminiscent of The Four Seasons. Joey sings and dances all of his hit recordings and audiences are mesmerized.

Ocala Music - Dueling Divas

Dueling Divas

Saturday, November 22, 2008
Doors Open: 6pm - Show Begins: 7pm

TV screens aren’t big enough to hold them! The paparazzi are eating them up! Never before has the public been privy to such intimate views of operatic divas and their egos!

La voce femmina! Secure, powerful! You cannot resist these divas! Think, feathers, sequins, pounds of jewelry, wigs, wigs, wigs! And what is a night of opera without a horned helmet and spear?

In the grand tradition of Operatic Feuds, join these modern-day divas, Baroness Vladka von Loudenstimme and Gwendoline Josephine Bellevoix Bouvier, as they take their duel to the stage for all to see and judge!

Witness the terror of “Divas-gone-mad” in Lady Macbeth vs. Lucia di Lammermoor - leave children at home. Thrill to the excitement of Operation Feather Boa: You Call That Loud?! Relish the Valkyrie battle-cry, “Ho-jo-to-ho”, sung like no soprano has ever dared!

Which diva will win this duel? Will it be Gwendoline, our bubbly Southern Belle fresh off the farm (yeah, right)? Or Vladka, a mature, serious artist from some undefined European location, whose accent tends to slip in and out? Who will manage the most costume changes? Who will sing the loudest? The highest? Will the long-suffering pianist rebel and take the stage? Who gets the Tenor? Who even wants the Tenor?

All these questions, and more, will be answered before the curtain falls!
